This afternoon (May 7, 2026) at 5:00 p.m. ET, Airbnb has its Q1 2026 earnings call, and we wanted to share some of our thoughts and notes in advance of today’s call.

Airbnb mention markets that are priced about right are…

World Cup, Boutique, International, and Domestic are priced at 96%, 85%, 85%, and 75%, respectively. 

World Cup is an easy one. It’s likely to be a major demand driver for summer 2026. Airbnb CEO Brian Chesky explicitly framed the 2026 FIFA World Cup as the playbook follow-up to the 2024 Paris Olympics, saying on the Q4 2025 earnings call on February 12, 2026:

Now we’re repeating that same playbook for the biggest event on Earth, the 2026 FIFA World Cup across 16 cities in North America.

Add to this, Airbnb launched a Host Earnings Calculator for World Cup 2026, a $750 new-host reward program, and Oppenheimer's May 4 upgrade to Outperform with a $180 PT explicitly cited "hotels and the World Cup" as the catalyst, and a mention of World Cup seems quite likely. 

International and Domestic both come up almost any time Airbnb management talks about geographic mix, and right now there are a few stories in play that may be a potential catalysts for a mention. Canadian inbound to the US is down 14% YoY in March 2026 and international travel to the US is declining

According to Skift, international expansion is Chesky's "step on the gas" priority. The Q4 2025 letter said growth in "expansion markets" is roughly 2x core. The Q1 2026 print should reinforce the same arc.

Brian Chesky has also explicitly called out "domestic Japan" as a growth segment. And per Yahoo Finance, U.S. and core "domestic" demand has been a consistent talking point.

In Q4 2025, he said:

So in particular, what I would call out is domestic Japan. That’s a market and a segment that we’ve been focusing on…

And in Q3 2025, he said:

…in particular for domestic stays. And hopefully you saw from the investor letter, we are making progress there.

Management could lean entirely on regional language (North America, Asia-Pacific, Latin America) and avoid the literal word, and Q3 2024 and Q1 2024 had zero verbatim mentions.

I suppose a possible but unlikely path is that management could substitute "expansion markets," "outside our top-five," or specific country names ("Japan," "India") and skip the literal word. (Two of 21 historical quarters had that shape.) But they seem relatively safe.

Boutique is also high in potential likelihood because "boutique and independent hotels" has become a bit of a Chesky catchphrase tied to the relaunched Hotels strategy. 

In Q4 2025, he used "boutique(s)" 6 times in management commentary.

According to Parameter's May 7 preview and AirROI, hotels are being piloted in NYC, LA, Madrid, and San Francisco, with a focus on boutique/independent supply. 

Oppenheimer's May 4 upgrade was explicitly tied to hotels re-rating. And Brian Chesky said in Q4 2025: "the opportunity with hotels is massive, and we plan to share more about our approach later this year." 

So, it would seem that Q1 is the natural slot for an update.

A case against the mention of boutique would be that Chesky is saving this for the Summer Release event in May rather than the call. In that case Brian could give a teaser without the "boutique" word, but every recent reference has paired the word with "independents."

More positions on Airbnb’s Kalshi Mention Market

Service agent is Brian's preferred phrasing for both the AI assistant and the human team. Notably, the AI customer service agent is also the subject of the April 29 House joint inquiry.

According to TechCrunch (Feb 13, 2026), Airbnb said roughly a third of support tickets are handled by AI, and the global rollout and voice expansion are explicit Q1 storylines. CX Dive also wrote a piece on the AI service agent's domestic rollout.
